A Jasper Johns painting of an American flag from the estate of writer Michael Crichton sold for a record
$28.6 million tonight at Christie’s International in New York. The work titled “Flag,” created between 1960 and 1966 with wax encaustic and newspaper, was expected to sell for as much as $15 million.
